BERLIN — Germany’s powerful auto industry association is urging the European Union and Britain to postpone post-Brexit rules it says would hamper the transition to electric vehicles, potentially boosting the hand of U.K.-based automakers calling for the same.
Under the trade deal agreed when Britain left the EU, 45 percent of the value of an electric vehicle sold in the EU must come from Britain or the EU from 2024 to avoid tariffs.
