Eagers chief executive Keith Thornton told shareholders in its annual report there was a “generational shift” under way as Australian customers were becoming increasingly attracted to electric vehicles or hybrids.
He said market adoption of low- and zero-emission vehicles was accelerating rapidly “via organic changes in consumer preferences”. The increasing uptake of EVs was also being supported by incentives and mandates which would stimulate incremental demand.
