Over 1 million tonnes of rare earths essential for electric vehicles discovered in Sweden

A Swedish mining company has discovered Europe’s biggest deposit of rare earths in Northern Sweden.

Over 1 million tonnes of rare earth oxides were located by the state-owned ore producer.

Rare earths are essential for products such as mobile phones and electric vehicles and aren’t mined in Europe, making the region dependent on imports.
